Industrialisation Print E-mail

The β-phase is often a confusing phase, because production will take over from development. This means that the production area will become more orderly, more samples will be made for costumers, less machine time for development, etc. This could lead to some tensions in the company. The industrialisation also has a lot of advantages of course. A lot of data is obtained by production of samples, the facility will get more industrial (less dust particles, orderly, etc), the production people can also help with producing samples for development. At the beginning of this phase development is the biggest costumer of production.

First of all the industrial process must be set up. In the previous phases the principles have been proven. Now it is time to set up the definitive industrial process. This goes a lot more fast compared to the previous phases, because a lot of testing has already been done. You know which buttons have effect and which don’t.

After the runs have been ended satisfactorily (this always takes a few runs) product scan be shipped to costumers for evaluation. Deliver them with the message that these are the first products and that there is no mass production yet. This way you have a story when the products don’t meet the specifications of the costumers. If they are good enough they will know that you are no yet ready for mass production. Sent these samples to a number of costumers and ask them to give feedback.

The next step is tidy the facility. By using the 5/6S principle you’ll make sure this is done well.
